The itinerary for Journey of Jazz ’27, with its extended stays in exciting ports-of-call, offers Signature Cruise Experiences the opportunity to provide land based excursions with the same degree of excellence that we present with our onboard events.  As our gift to our guests, the excursions are priced at cost and all expenses incurred by Signature Cruise Experiences in connection with the production of the events will be borne by us.

New Orleans

Journey of Jazz ‘27 will overnight in New Orleans, providing guests with two full days and one night to enjoy the wonders of the Birthplace of Jazz. We have curated a host of great excursions just for our guests, ranging from brunch at Brennan’s (we have secured the entire restaurant), to boat tours of the city, to fabulous jazz shows at local venues. 

What would a trip to the Crescent City be without experiencing its jazz clubs? We have collaborated with New Orleans’ premier jazz venue, the New Orleans Jazz and Blues Market, to present two shows showcasing the ever-vibrant NOLA jazz scene. This fantastic 370-seat venue features a full-service bar, a jazz reading library, a digital archive, and hosts legendary jazz and blues musicians from around the world. Guests sailing on Journey of Jazz ’27 will enjoy performances by two of New Orleans’ top jazz artists.

On January 26, New Orleans legend Kermit Ruffins, who played himself in the HBO series Tremé, will take the stage. Ruffins is a trumpeter and vocalist continuing the legacy of NOLA’s favorite son, Louis Armstrong. His band, the Barbecue Swinger, has been delighting audiences for over twenty-five years. With high-energy performances and his infectious personality, he captures the sound and, more importantly, the spirit of the city.    

On January 27, the New Orleans Jazz and Blues Market will host NEA Jazz Master, 2026 GRAMMY® nominee, former Jazz Messenger, and Big Chief of the Congo Square Afro-New Orleans Cultural Group, saxophonist Donald Harrison. Harrison’s music, which he calls “Nouveau Swing,” blends jazz with funk, R&B and soul in a way that makes you want to get out of your seat and dance! One of New Orleans’ most respected musicians, he has played with artists such as Miles Davis, Ron Carter, Lena Horne, Eddie Palmieri and Notorious B.I.G. He performs regularly with his jazz supergroup, the Cookers. Much like his mentor and bandleader, Art Blakey, Harrison is committed to nurturing the next generation of jazz greats and has mentored musicians such as Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty and esperanza spaulding, to name a few.

You will notice that several of the offerings on Tuesday and Wednesday in New Orleans are identical. Due to the limited capacity of these tours, we wanted as many of our guests to have the opportunity to experience these fantastic excursions as possible. We suggest making note of the “Reference #” associated with each excursion that you have interest in and pay particular attention to which day you prefer. This will assist you later during the booking process.
